FBI Channeling

National Background Check, Inc. (NBCI) is one of the few companies in the nation to be recognized by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) as an approved FBI Channeling Agency.

NBCI is capable of obtaining FBI Background Checks for non-criminal purpose applicants by submitting fingerprint cards directly to the FBI.

FBI DEPARTMENTAL ORDER: PERSONAL BACKGROUND CHECK REQUEST:

Under FBI Departmental Order 556-73, an individual may obtain a copy of his/her FBI criminal identification report.

a. Why request a criminal identification report?

 

i	For review and correction purposes, to challenge the information on the record, or satisfy certain legal requirements: adopting a child, immigration;
ii	To satisfy a requirement to live, work, or travel in a foreign country
iii	and/or other court related matters or personal reasons

	1. Departmental Order (DO) Applicant Information request form and your fingerprint card (FD-258)
	2. Payment of $50 US dollars (per person/per copy). Check or Money Order - made payable to NBCI or by Credit Card (exception - Discover).

* An FBI-approved Channeler may only process requests for a U.S. person (an individual who is a citizen of the U.S. or a lawful permanent resident of the U.S.).

* An FBI-approved Channeler cannot authenticate (apostille) fingerprint search results. A request for your FBI Identification Record or proof that a record does not exist must be submitted directly to the FBI if an apostille is needed. However, for security purposes, the results will be mailed to the authorized recipient in a package containing the sealed results with the applicants information printed on the envelope.

* An FBI-approved Channeler cannot process a request for employment and/or licensing purposes within the United States. This type of request should be coordinated with the appropriate state identification bureau (or state police) for the correct procedures.

* Fingerprints must be captured by a law enforcement agency or Channeler. An individual is not permitted to capture his/her own fingerprints on a fingerprint card.

* All FBI Channeling results must be sent back to a U.S. address. Results are prohibited from being shipped overseas.
